My Favorite Payware Routes
Rich Garber has been one of the leading route developers in the Train Simulation community. Starting back with Microsoft Train Simulator he developed the routes: East Metro, Ohio Rail, Cumberland, and Canton. I enjoyed every one of them. When Railworks came on the scene, he was one of the first to get on the ‘train’ so-to-speak and in 2008 started development of the Rascal and Cottonwood route. Since then he has developed and released: Colton & Northern, Fort Kent to Eagle Lake, Ohio Steel 2, and Fort Smith to Heavener. All can be found and purchased at All Aboard. Needless to say, all of them are on my list of favorite payware routes.
Another route that I have enjoyed is Norfolk Southern Coal District by Dovetail Games. This route is a truly beautiful route, one of the best I believe DTG has released. I’ve run some but not all of the scenarios and those that I have run have been enjoyable. This isn’t a route where speed is the answer, it has rather slow speed limits which actually gives you the impression that the route is longer than it really is. I’ve sure to the more discerning this route has its cons, but for me, I’m glad I purchased it.
